I was arranging a bouquet
On the table, and doing some cleaning;
Then time became distorted,
Little by little coming apart.

Suddenly falling out of a half-read book
In that corner of the room, was a card
From the time I was frantically in love,
That I had not seen since that time.

I can say 'Goodbye' at last to you.
Though the nights, all by myself, are
Both lonely and tearful,
Because I have to forget about you,
A love of this sort simply cannot be.

Those times I feel down, when I cannot hold firm,
I think it would still be good to see you, right ?
The leaves of the tree by the window
Were shaking, as if nodding in agreement.

More likely, they are laughing at me, aren't they?
Mornings are, for me,
Both rainy and windy,
Because I loved you, and will be so,
Until I can love somebody else.

Though the nights, all by myself, are
Both lonely and tearful,
Because I have to forget about you,
A love of this sort simply cannot be.
